This article presents controllable magnetics with linear characteristics under electrical pre-magnetization. The key to linearity is the geometric implementation of the pure dc pre-magnetization in the core, which is represented by the Theory of superposition and coupling of electromagnetic fields. This achieves linear performance in the large signal characteristics, in reducing the inductance of inductors; in transformers, the voltage transformation ratio, the leakage or the main inductance can be varied. This is experimentally demonstrated, verified and validated using functionally controllable samples. Finally, the application possibilities are identified and the potentials are shown.
