An Interlink converter is presented, capable of transferring power in metro and tramway catenary overhead lines. The purpose of the converter is, to transport energy which is fed into the overhead lines from a solar farm, to the inner city. The reason for this is shortage of power in the public utility grid in the inner city. Also solar power, harvested along the tramway track can be fed into the overhead lines. By actively transporting electric power through the overhead lines, the voltage level remains at a nominal level at sections, where power is fed into the overhead lines. Also from the public utility grid in the inner city, there will be a lower power demand.
