Decarbonization has become a necessity to tackle climate change and electrification is a small step in achieving this goal. Infineon Technologies is developing a new Best-in-Class OptiMOS(TM) 6 135 V technology for high-power motor-drive applications such as LEVs, e-forklifts, power & gardening tools etc. which predominantly use 72 - 84 V batteries. It has been designed to replace existing 135 - 150 V MOSFETs being used for these applications by providing significant improvements in RDS(ON) and cost, helping improve the system efficiency. This paper demonstrates OptiMOS(TM) 6 135 V switching and thermal performance improvements in power & gardening tools over OptiMOS(TM) 5 150 V and Best-in-Class parts from competitors.
