This paper presents a concept to investigate the thermal behavior of charging stations for electric vehicles in the power range of 100kW. Based on experimental data of a dummy charging station, thermal parameters are determined to allow a mathematical description of the thermal processes. The resulting model enables continuous monitoring and better control of the thermal variables during the charging process, allowing the operation to be optimized through appropriate thermal monitoring.
