This paper presents the design of a 250 kW 50 kHz SiC-based Half-Bridge-Series-Resonant-Converter (HB-SRC) which was designed as a Power Block of a modular 1 MW Input-Series-Output-Parallel (ISOP) DC-DC converter. To achieve the switching frequency of 50 kHz even at the rated power, Silicon-Carbide (SiC) MOSFET power modules were used and the HB-SRC was operated in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) for soft switching operation. A prototype of the HB-SRC was built and its performance was experimentally validated.
