The scope of this paper is to evaluate the center tapped boost converter when comparing it to the boost converter and flyback converter topologies. The relationships of gain, efficiency and losses to the duty cycle are shown analytically and afterwards verified using a test setup built around a Texas Instruments LM51551-Q1 non-synchronous boost controller, researching if this integrated circuit is also capable of operating the center tapped boost converter topology.
