This study develops a hybrid time-domain averaged model capable of reproducing the blocked state of power modules to address the computational challenges associated with modular Solid-State Transformer (SST) modeling. The proposed model provides a valuable tool for examining external dynamics within SST-based systems, encompassing aspects such as power flow and stability analysis, operation during external fault scenarios as well as startup and shutdown procedures. This study validates the effectiveness of the proposed model by conducting a comprehensive analysis of various test cases compared to an equivalent switched time-domain model. The results showcase its capability to speed up simulation processing time up to 9 fold, maintain marginally less than 1% error during steady-state operation and accurately depict the external dynamics of modular SSTs.
