In the past decade, solar installations have experienced substantial expansion, primarily driven by their myriad benefits, such as economical operation, scalability, flexible installation and more. At this growth rate, there is a demand for these systems to handle higher power, be more energy efficient, smaller in size and deliver better power quality. In this paper, we will discuss how using SiC MOSFETs help to reduce the size of the bi-directional DC-AC inverter stage by increasing the switching frequency while still maintaining peak efficiency of 99.2% and a power density of greater than 6kW/L.
