This paper provides a 11kW motor drive with advanced Silicon Carbide (SiC) technology. A prototype of a three-phase, six-switch inverter is built and tested to compare the performance of the SiC MOSFET with the Si Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) and illustrate the ability to drive an industrial motor at 3000 rpm and 11kW. >99% efficiency is demonstrated with the SiC based motor drive solution.
