The paper deals with the control optimization of a PFC stage in bidirectional On-board-charger, OBC, application. The implementation of a load-related switching frequency adaptation control is analyzed with efficiency estimation and experimental results. The analysis consists of an evaluation of the optimization strategy proposed to improve the heavy load efficiency of a standard 2-level PFC. Experimental validation has been carried out using a reference design based on 6-switch PFC stage with a novel highly integrated SiC MOSFET power module, The optimized control algorithm has been implemented on a 32-bit microcontroller with dedicated peripherals for digital power conversion.
