Inhalt:
The move towards renewable energy and more interdependent electricity markets, together with increasing demand for electrification in various sectors, is leading to more frequent transmission congestion. As a result, expensive solutions such as redispatch have to be implemented. In the short term, innovative methods to mitigate congestion are needed. To this end, this paper investigates substation bus-splitting topologies. The novel methodology, based on optimization and a dimensionality reduction technique, provides a small set of topologies that reduces redispatch in a scenario. The approach is tested on the German power system in a future scenario. From the results of the study case, transmission system operators can get an idea of the savings potential.
