Due to the current high dynamics in the energy sector and the way to the decarbonisation of the electric energy production, robust and reliable controllers are needed. Today, grid side power converters are a key element for the grid connection of renewable energy sources. In this paper a control approach for a power converter based on a fictitious machine set has been improved to achieve a better system dynamic and overall stability, even during difficult grid conditions. The control structure was set up and evaluated in a simulation environment and on a test stand.
