Small form-factor converters drive the need for highly efficient high-frequency magnetic components. Combined with high output power, magnetic optimization becomes crucial when pushing the boundaries of magnetic shrinkage. Multiphase converters enable this magnetic shrinkage, leaving the Three-Phase LLC as a promising topology to fulfil high efficiency, effective power density and high voltage step-down (wye-δ transformer). The focus of this work is the listing of the guidelines on the design of asymmetric three-phase magnetic components. Sources of power losses are analyzed, including high-frequency currents in the PCB and termination. The specifications of the converter include a nominal input voltage range of 270 V to 28V for a nominal output power of 1 kW.
