This paper presents a comparison of different three-phase transformer constructions for high frequency isolated DC-DC converters employing a three-phase topology, Dual Active Bridge or Resonant converters are examples of topologies that could apply this kind of transformer. The text begins by exploring issues and revealing lessons learned of a specific transformer assembly, by trying to solve these issues, other transformer constructions will be presented. The advantages and drawbacks of each solution are introduced. This work is finalized with the experimental efficiency comparison of all solutions which were measured using a 22kW OBC prototype.
