Anti-sway system is the core technology of the automatic operation of the overhead crane. During the intelligent and automatic operation of the overhead crane, the appropriate anti-sway control algorithm plays an important role in the traveling efficiency and operational stability in the storage area. In practice, it is difficult to establish an accurate mechanism model because a number of factors interfere with the system operation. In this paper, a fuzzy control method is used to design the controller and it is applied in a steel plant, where the overhead crane is able to travel efficiently and stably, the control accuracy meets the site process requirements, and the stability of the fuzzy controller is verified.
