In order to carry out a better and faster study on the mechanism of root consolidation, this paper selects a typical Banyan taproots and red clay soil in Hainan to carry out a numerical simulation study on single shear test of root-soil composite, introduces the numerical simulation technique of root system embedded in soil to simulate root-soil interaction, finds that the elastic modulus is not constant during the shear process, and proposes the method of "two-point control method" to determine the elastic modulus of soil effectively. Comparative analysis of shear stress-shear displacement curves, shear deformation and root deformation by experiments and numerical calculations showed good agreement, and the correlation coefficients all reached 0.99. The research results provide a theoretical basis and method for subsequent single-shear experimental research on the influence factors of root consolidation, and have a certain reference for guiding the practical engineering problems.
