Flood control and dredging has always been the most important task of water conservancy projects. Shaoxing plain has many water systems and complicated rivers, which have the potential risk of disasters. It is necessary to control the water level of the river network through gate regulation. Cao'e River sluice plays a key role in Shaoxing river network. Finding out the best opening time of flood discharge sluice can not only ensure the life and property safety of the surrounding people, but also minimize the impact of gate operation on the surrounding environment. This paper studies the flow characteristics of Mashan River in the river network by establishing a two-dimensional mathematical model of the river network, and uses Mike software to simulate and analyze it. It is concluded that the best time to open the Cao'e River Sluice 17 hours before the rainstorm.
