A smart grid requires unified management of the communication network. To solve the problems in the communication network of Guizhou Power Grid, we introduce this paper, the solution of virtual desktop cloud and services. The proposed framework consists of three parts: unified virtual desktop cloud (VDC), regional network management server (NMS) monitoring, and corresponding software development. With the proposed solution, computation and software resources are centralized and unified, and the staff can get access to the whole system with any terminal clients. In addition, alarms can be made and maintenance tasks can be assigned automatically whenever necessary. The system can improve the management efficiency, and also reduce the economic cost.
