To deal with the problems of external disturbances and uncertain model parameters in the attitude control of fixed-wing UAVs, an adaptive controller is designed to ensure the finite-time stability of the attitude. Firstly, a fixed-wing UAV attitude model with the external disturbances and uncertain model parameters is introduced based on time scale separation principle. Then, the control laws for attitude and attitude angular velocity are designed based on finite-time stability theory, respectively, and the stability of the attitude system is proved based on Lyapunov theory. Simulation results are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.
