The 7th Generation “X Series” Intelligent Power Module and Its Feature

This paper introduces the 7th-gen X series Intelligent Power Module (X-IPM) and its feature. Fuji Electric has developed the X-IPM for industrial applications, which achieves further miniaturization and performance improvement of power conversion systems by adopting the newly developed power chip and control IC. The newly developed control IC (X-Series IC) integrates various unique functions. For instance, the X-IPM comes with the industry’s first warning output function and the temperature-based power dissipation reduction function. Furthermore, the accuracy of the IGBT chip overheat protection built into the X-IPM has also been improved in order to achieve higher temperature operation. By applying these technologies, the X-IPM will contribute to improving the performance of power conversion systems.
