Modular Multilevel Converters (MMCs) are used more commonly in the medium and high voltage power systems . This paper focuses on an auxiliary control strategy for MMC systems - Derating strategy.The derating strategy is a simple and effective way to improve the system reliability. According to the altitude, temperature, and the influence of cosmic rays on semiconductor devices, this paper proposes a derating strategy for a single δ bridge cell MMC (SDBC-MMC) system.
