This paper presents a two-level inverter for solar applications design, using paralleled Silicon carbide (SiC) devices to improve the size, weight and power density. In comparison with a silicon-based inverter with similar characteristics, a 67% improvement in power has been achieved, maintaining total volume. In addition, the acoustic band noise has been mitigated by increasing the switching frequency up to 20 kHz. The original silicon-based (Si) IGBT central inverter corresponds with an industrial product commercialized by Zigor R&D company.
