Hydrogen energy, for its advantages of zero carbon emission, high efficiency, and flexible application, has been a new solution to the dilemma between environmental protection and economic growth. In China, hydrogen energy has great potential in achieving the "carbon neutrality by 2060" issued in 2020. This paper starts with the applications of hydrogen energy, analyzes the current hydrogen energy utilization in China from the perspectives of FCEVs industry, microgrids construction and economic significance based on data research. Then, with reference to four mainstream hydrogen energy development patterns overseas, inspired ideas and suggestions for the hydrogen energy development in China are proposed to establish a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient modern energy system.
