In the process of NC machining, NC tools play an important role in the actual effect of workpiece machining. The actual size of NC tools directly affects the machining accuracy. Aiming at the problem of contour segmentation and fitting in milling cutter digital image measurement, a robust contour segmentation and fitting method is proposed in this paper. The contour is divided into several segments by iterative operation with the distance and the angle between adjacent segments as the judgment standard. The fitting method of line segments is determined by the included angle relationship between adjacent line segments and the length of line segments. Finally, the milling cutter contour is divided into line segments and arc segments to accurately complete the segmentation and fitting of the contour, which is not affected by the contour noise.
