Since each individual has distinct gait characteristics, tracking of human motion can be helpful to identify them. This paper describes a self-powered TENG intelligent carpet that can identify humans by collecting gait data from electric impulses. The intelligent carpet is made of conventional thin-film materials, which are affordable and practical. It can be placed flat on the ground and track human motion. The actuator's dynamic signal can be used to calculate motion parameters, such as step and velocity. It can be used in high-traffic areas like train stations, metro stations, tunnels, and airport lounges as a complement to the security camera systems.
