Yuanba area has an old geological age, strong abrasiveness and poor drillability. At the same time, the deep formation pressure system is complex and the density window is narrow. During the drilling process, leakage, collapse, inclination and sticking are easy to occur. So the low rate of penetration (ROP) and long drilling cycle seriously affect the exploration and development process of Yuanba gasfield.Firstly, the lithologic characteristics and complex pressure distribution in Yuanba area are introduced, and the complex situation of different strata is deeply analyzed. Secondly, through the application of new drilling technologies such as gas drilling and managed pressure drilling, field tests of new rock breaking tools such as Torkbuster torsion impactor and impregnated diamond bit, as well as the research and application of ultra deep well cementing technology, a comprehensive matching technology for ultra deep wells with complex geological conditions in Yuanba gas field has been formed, which has important guiding significance for the drilling construction in the future.
