This paper analyzes and compares the technical characteristics of different types of bridge cranes in heavy cargo wharves. Due to the limited conditions of some wharves, the channel of berth is shallow or narrow. If the conventional heavy cargo bridge crane is used, it will affect the passage of the channel. Therefore, after studying the handling process of various heavy cargo warves, and combining with the finite element structural mechanics analysis, a new kind of heavy bridge crane with long cantilever steel structure foundation is proposed. The equipment has the advantages of not hindering navigation, high utilization rate, automatic skew detection and so on, and has been successfully applied to YiBin Port heavy cargo wharves. The application of this equipment is of great significance to the transportation of heavy cargo in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and the improvement of port equipment and technology level.
