With the increase of flexible loads such as stationary energy storage systems (SESS) and electric vehicles (EV), a new door is open to benefit from such flexibility to avoid expensive grid expansion, curtailment and increase self consumption by supporting with local generation/consumption balancing. The agent-based simulation framework implemented in this work shows a promising potential for grid operators to overcome these challenges by taking an active role in regional energy markets. Additionally, results show that such local energy communities can increase self consumption and local energy sharing by optimizing the flexibility dispatch.
