A New Design of a Series-Resonant-Converter (ND-SRC) topology is presented, providing galvanic isolation, achieving Zero-Voltage-Switching as well as Zero-Current-Switching at every operating point and capable of bidirectional power flow. With this topology, no effort is required to avoid the problem of voltage overshoots across power semiconductor switches, which normally is specifically challenging in the field of low voltage systems. Therefore, a main application area are DC/DC converters, which have the purpose of boosting low voltages of a battery, a fuel cell or redox flow stack to a higher level. But its appropriate application is not limited to this field, it also convinces in high-voltage-systems or in cases where only a galvanic isolation is necessary due to its high efficiency, low partial load losses, compact design possibilities and good electromagnetic compatibility.
