Inhalt:
This paper first summarizes the current state of electrical insulation materials that are utilized in automotive traction motor applications. Present and upcoming demands that insulation materials must fulfill are outlined, highlighting material aspects that have room for improvement or need to be implemented. To that end, it is pivotal to initiate a discussion regarding the need for a more in-depth understanding of the degradation mechanisms in insulation materials.
