An in-depth knowledge of the component stress is required when designing DC/DC converters. For this purpose, the respective voltage and current stress of the components are sufficiently known, which can be applied to the design of converters for a wide input voltage range. Furthermore, the magnetic components are stressed differently depending on the operating point, which makes an optimal design more difficult. Therefore, this paper examines seven converters analytically and experimentally with regard to their operating point dependent stress on the magnetic components. On the one hand to present the point of worst-case stress and on the other hand to show the progression for variable input voltages.
