In this paper an inversely coupled inductor for an inverter system is designed. Two different core materials are used for the design. The center-leg of the coupled inductor is made out of a composite material, which brings many advantages with it. Since there is no air-gap the proximity-losses in the coils are reduced, furthermore a higher inductance at overcurrents can be achieved. In the design process analytical calculations, circuit simulations and Finite-Element-Simulations were used.
