Inhalt:
This paper investigates the impact of fast SiC switching voltage transients on the voltage distribution in an electrical machine. The scope of the investigation is to determine the insulation’s voltage stress for the coil-coil and the turn-turn insulation interface existing in the stator with regard to varying voltage transients and feeding cable length. The coil-earth interface will not be part of the investigation in this paper. The hardware under investigation is a stator with two layer preformed distributed coils in a medium power range used for traction purposes. The stator is designed with accessible voltage taps at several locations to determine the insulation’s voltage stress.
