Inhalt:
Deep sags commonly induce in DFIG-based systems high transient currents and torque spikes, putting the wind turbine under stress. An enhanced DFIG system derived by performing several modifications on the conventional one is proved to present several benefits regarding LVRT. Special effort has been employed in decreasing the mechanical stress on the shaft by reducing torque spikes produced during grid faults. For this purpose, different software and hardware-based measures involving the Grid-Side Converter (GSC) have been applied on the enhanced system, achieving torque reductions up to 81% with regard to the conventional DFIG system.
