Short rotor linear induction motors are a type of linear motors in which the stator is the fixed part and the rotor is the moving part. These linear motors are appropriate to be used in high speed ground transportation and specific industrial applications because of the light weight of their moving parts and being free from the need of electrical source. In some applications it is necessary that at the starting up of linear motor, the moving part runs with high thrust and acceleration. The result of simulation indicated that in this type of motors by series compensating (with calculated value of capacitors), the amplitude of maximum and starting trust will be increase and accelerating time will be decrease. In this paper the effects of series compensation on dynamic performance of short rotor linear induction motors will be study.
