This paper examines the penetration loss suffered through periodic wall structures currently used by the building industry. A novel full-wave method, the rigorous coupled wave analysis (RCWA) method is utilized to study the radio propagation behavior through periodic building wall structures and simulation findings are provided. The non-linear variation of penetration loss with material thickness or frequency is reported.
