Statistical analysis of lightning strike faults in transmission lines based on distributed monitoring data

This article proposes a statistical analysis method for lightning faults in transmission lines based on the distributed mon-itoring data and lightning positioning system data of a power grid company in 2021. First, judge whether the fault is caused by a lightning strike based on the half-peak time of the traveling wave waveform. If it is less than 20mus, the fault is a lightning strike fault. If there is a reverse polarity pulse in the lightning fault waveform, it is a back flashover faults. Otherwise, it is a shielding fault. Then the lightning strike data within 3km of the transmission line corridor were screened, and then the traveling wave data within 4 minutes of each lightning strike was screened, and a total of 105 traveling wave data related to lightning strikes were obtained. The fault type was determined by the above method, and the lightning strikes near each base tower were counted. The statistical results of the number of traveling waves are generally consistent with the results of lightning risk assessment, which verifies the accuracy of the method in this paper. The research in this article can provide a basis for differentiated lightning protection of transmission lines.
