This study explores the characteristics of stroke polarity in the central region of Colombia, analyzing data from 2016 to 2020. Based on Knowledge Discovery from Databases (KDD), the methodology utilizes GLD360 data comprising 79,584,270 records. Analysis reveals a concentration of stroke activity in the northern part of the country. Despite a higher density of negative stroke, the findings show only an average 14% less positive stroke than negative. A crucial consideration for lightning protection systems and insulation coordination applications. There is no apparent correlation between overall stroke activity and positive stroke, and no significant difference in location regarding stroke polarity. However, these findings are not definitive due to data limitations.
