A field experiment focusing on lightning activities in high altitude region in Tibet has been launched by State Grid Corop-eration of China (SGCC) since 2023. The Lighting observatory in high altitude region of Tibet (LOHA) is under con-struction from 2023. The LOHA consists of six stations in Tibet, China, and the first station call Yangbajing station is established and put into operation in 2023. It now equips with lightning channel imager (LCI), fast & slow antenna system. A VHF radiation interferometer and a 3-D total lightning location system plan to be installed in 2024. In 2023, 29 flashes including cloud-to-ground flash and intracloud flash are recorded. A preliminary comparison between records by Yang-bajing station and records by Cloud-to-ground Lightning Location System (CGLLS) of SGCC is made to evaluate the accuracy and detection efficiency of CGLLS.
