The paper concerns corrosion problems of Lightning Protection System Components (LPSC). Test requirements of LPSC are specified in IEC standards related to LPS design (IEC 62305 series) and to LPSC tests (IEC 62561 series). The paper includes the analysis of several factors characterising the influence of LPSC corrosion partially placed in air and in soil and explores the complexity of this problem. In published IEC standards related to LPS and LPSC corro-sivity categories in atmosphere and in soil connected with their locations are not evaluated and no corrosion tests proce-dures and passing criteria are specified. Some proposals and suggestions to introduce more requirements for corrosion tests to appropriate IEC standards are also discussed.
