In this paper, we discuss the development of a weakly-coupled Multi-Core Fiber (MCF) with 7 cores for long-haul applications in the C-band. In order to manage XT and leakage losses, trench regions of lowered refractive index are introduced isolating the interaction between cores. Furthermore, market perspectives of such MCFs are discussed.
