A sufficient covering of reactive power is required to ensure, that the voltage remains within a specific range. With the decommission of conventional power plants and the increase of renewable energy sources, voltage regulation for transmission system operation is becoming increasingly difficult, as the common options for covering reactive power for system operators are affected. Due to the decentralization of the power system, more energy resources with the potential to supply reactive power are being installed in the distribution system. Therefore, the use of these reactive power supply potentials in congestion management is gaining more attention. This work proposes the basics for harnessing reactive power potentials from the DS in the context of Redispatch 2.0.
