Within the process of electromagnetic compatibility compliance evaluation in the context of modern HVDC applications, the attenuation of the high-frequency electromagnetic field transversal to the line is of great importance. This paper presents a method to calculate the magnetic field strength in the vicinity of an electrically long transmission line that is based on an analytical solution for the transmission line’s radiation. The method is compared to simulation results using the Method of Moments and relevant literature.
