Inhalt:
Ground-volume decomposition of Radar scattering plays an important role in the analysis of forested areas. Ground-volume decomposition may be performed either through the exploitation of multi-polarimetric or multi-baseline data. The Sum of Kronecker Products (SKP) Decomposition provides a unified framework where polarimetric and baseline diversity are jointly exploited, resulting in the possibility to algebraically synthesize ground and volume scattering contributions. Though, the decomposition problem is ambiguous, in that different physically valid solutions may give rise to the same data. This paper is dedicated to discussing the impact of the choice of the solution for volume scattering, in light of experimental results at P-Band and L-Band obtained in the framework of the ESA campaign BioSAR 2008.
