Besides security, comfort and multimedia functions the electronics fraction of the added value in motorcars rose up to 20% in the year 2006 because of resource efficiency and environmental compatibility. And it will continue strongly with the further electrification of the powertrain (HEV, FC, EV) (forecast: 30% in the year 2025). But electrifying the traction of cars on large volume scales seems to be the most dynamic shifting in automotive industry since the invention of car. Supply and value chains will change and high temperature electronics and power electronics will be enabler technologies in this global challenge. Therefore member experts of the associations ZVEI and ECPE founded the team ‘Power Electronics’ within the ZVEI working group 'High Temperature and Power Electronics'.
