This part of IEC 60079: – gives instructions, principally of a technical nature, on the repair, overhaul, reclamation, and alteration of Ex equipment designed for use in explosive atmospheres; – applies to overhaul and repair which mitigates deficiencies identified during operation, inspection and maintenance; – applies to manufacturers who overhaul and repair Ex Equipment which has been manufactured by other manufacturers; – assumes that good engineering practices are adopted throughout; – does not give advice on cable and wiring systems which can require a renewal when the equipment is re-installed; – is not applicable to Type of Protection “m”; and – is not applicable to manufacturers who overhaul and repair equipment which they have manufactured, however they may take into consideration the requirements of marking and user records for the user’s verification record.
