This standard is applicable to safety-related electrical, electronic and programmable electronical systems (E/E/PES including subsystems and equipment) for railroad signaling applications. It is applicable to the functional safety of railway signaling systems. It does not address the occupational safety of personnel; this is the subject of other standards. This standard describes procedures for robust decision making following the disclosure of a potenential safety deficiencies (PSM) in a system, and provides guidance on how to apply these procedures by - Providing the procedural steps necessary to perform an assessment, - citing appropriate designations, prerequisites, measures of PSM criticality, and avaluation of risk-reducing (RM) measures, - basic principles are explained, - Examples of required worksheets or table forms are provided. This standard is applicable only to potential safety deficiencies and is not a substitute for safety analyses.
