This prestandard is applicable together with DIN EN 50556 (VDE 0832 100):2019-03 for road traffic signal systems (SVA) including road traffic signal systems at level crossings and for transportable road traffic signal systems with crossing or merging traffic. It specifies the classes to be applied in Germany according to DIN EN 12675 and DIN EN 50556 (VDE 0832 100):2019-03. This prestandard does not apply to installations put into service before the validity of this prestandard, unless the installations are substantially modified or extended. In the case of modifications affecting only individual parts of a road traffic signalling system, only the parts affected by the modification shall meet the requirements of this prestandard. Structural requirements for the signalling masts are not dealt with in this prestandard. Signalling installations in the visual range of rail traffic (traffic signal installations according to BOStrab) fall within the scope of this prestandard. If only railway signalling systems are used to secure level crossings, the scope of this prestandard is not affected.
