This pre-standard contains the basic requirements for emergency and hazard response systems (Notfall- und Gefahren-Reaktions-Systeme, NGRS) in public buildings such as educational institutions (e.g. schools, universities), public authorities, Kindergartens and similar institutions. NGRS also serve to fulfil the requirements of the German Occupational Safety Act, especially the protection of life and limb of staff and all other people in a building while considering the inclusion of people with disabilities (e.g. to ensure accessibility or to call for help). This pre-standard may also be applied for non-public buildings with similar risk and need for protection.
