This pre-standard is applicable to safety-relevant, electric, electronic and programmable electronic systems (E/E/PES including subsystems and equipment) for electric signalling systems for railways within the scope of VO (EG) Nr. 352/2009. This pre-standard provides guidance on how to derive safety requirements for generic functions in railway signalling by means of the semi-quantitative “Risk Score Matrix” method by describing the structure of the method, specifying the necessary parameters, carrying out a system definition for generic functions of railway signalling, deriving safety requirements for these functions taking the chosen method as an example, taking account of relevant framework conditions, providing evidence of fulfilling the requirements to the construction and use of semi-quantitative methods according to DIN V VDE V 0831-101.
